Live Edge Table
A large cherry tree once stood in this garden. It succumbed to honey fungus, and the trunk yielded a few good boards from which this table has been made for the same garden. The support framework is an aluminium/wood composite structure, which allows the top to expand and contract with the seasons. The extension piece plays a trompe l’oeil trick: it is retained in position by a very long central ‘tenon’, finished black so as to mimic the gap between the boards on the main section. I like objects which play games with solid and void!
